The "Ovidiu Sincai" European School On 18 June 2004, the "Ovidiu Sincai" Institute has started another educational project, by establishing the "Ovidiu Sincai" European School, under the aegis of the Council of Europe. The School is a member of the Council of Europe’s Network of Schools of Political Studies. It annually recruits 40 participants selected from a wide spectrum of the Romanian society. The School’s main objective is training future decision-makers, representatives of political parties, of the judiciary, journalists, businessmen/women etc., in the spirit of democratic and European practices and creating a proper framework for their sharing of experiences. The activities of the School are mainly focused on the organization of four interactive seminars to be held in Romania (three) and Strasbourg, the graduation certificates being handed by the Secretary General of the Council of Europe within a festive setting.
The first promotion of the "Ovidiu Sincai" European School has graduated in April 2005 in Strasbourg. The institute has also edited a review of this first promotion: Review of the "Ovidiu Sincai" European school, Edition 2004-2005.
In July 2005 the opening ceremony of the second promotion took place and, during 2005, two seminars were organized, in the Danube Delta (7-10 July 2005) and Odorheiu Secuiesc (6-9 October 2005), the third taking place in the period 30 March - 2 April 2006 in Predeal.
Within the third edition of the school, seminars were organised in Odorheiu Secuiesc (16-19 November 2006), Poiana Brasov (22-25 March 2007) and the Danube Delta (14-17 June 2007).
During the fourth edition of the school, seminars were organised in Brasov (13-16 December 2007), Odorheiu Secuiesc (10-13 April 2008) and in the Danube Delta (19-22 June 2008).
As a result of developing this project the "Ovidiu Sincai" Institute has managed, in May 2005, to open a regional school, the European School of Transylvania, which gathers 40 participants of all political orientations, representatives of all parliamentary parties, of the most important ethnic minorities from this area, of the academic environment, businessmen, etc. The selection of the participants is thus made as to provide a good cross section of society reflecting a wide spectrum of political view points with a good percentage of women and representation of the region's geographic, religious and ethnic differences. The finances for this school were insured, for the year of study 2005-2006, by organising a fund-raising campaign, entitled "European Evening" organised in Bucharest on 8 December 2004, 19 May 2005 and 28 November 2006, unfolding under the high patronage of the former Presidents of Romania and supported by a significant number of personalities from the country's public life.
Up to the present, the first edition of the European School of Transylvania has taken place, with the three seminars organised in Poiana Brasov (20-22 May 2005), in the Danube Delta (8-11 September 2005) and in Odorheiu Secuiesc (23-26 February 2006).
